Defeating The Blastocystis Hominis Parasite

Shaun Vakio, 25 from Finland

Where It All Began

Three years before I met Sara, my life—and health—was in a mess.

After I returned from a travel to a developing country, I experienced what I thought was a temporary stomach issue. I assumed it would pass. Little did I know then, that it had quietly taken over my body and, eventually, my life.

When the stomach issue didn’t dissipate, I was later diagnosed with an infection by a parasite called Blastocystis Hominis—a name I had never heard before, and one that very few people around me understood. At first, doctors told me it was uncommon but manageable. I believed them.

But months turned into years, and nothing truly worked. My health just kept going downhill.

My Declining Health

Over time, my digestive system became completely unpredictable. I developed severe IBS symptoms that controlled my day from the moment I woke up. Leaving the house became stressful. Planning anything—even a simple neighbourhood walk—was impossible.

I experienced:

  • Constant diarrhea and bowel urgency
  • Incontinence that made gym workout and even jumping impossible
  • Severe bloating, stomach cramps, belching and acid reflux
  • Dry mouth, bad breath, and difficulty swallowing food
  • Frequent urination
  • Sinus congestion and recurring infections
  • Yeast overgrowth
  • Dry, scaly skin and persistent rashes
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Night sweats and disturbed sleep
  • Vivid dreams and frequent nightmares
  • Weight gain around my hips, despite barely retaining food
  • Anxiety, hopelessness, and emotional exhaustion

Eventually, I became mostly house-bound.

That was perhaps the hardest part—not just the physical discomfort, but the isolation. My world felt like it was shrinking, and so was my hope.

I felt trapped inside a body that I no longer recognized as my own.

Previous Ineffective Treatments

Over the years, I had consulted multiple doctors and specialists. Each time, I was prescribed strong and stronger antibiotics. Each time, I felt slightly better—but only temporarily. And then the symptoms came rushing back.

Again and again.

No one could explain why the parasite kept returning. No one looked beyond short-term symptom relief. I was told this was something I would likely “have to manage long-term.”

That sentence alone was … a sentence!

I had already cleaned up my diet significantly. I ate what most people would consider “very healthy.” While this helped reduce the severity of my symptoms, it never solved the problem. If I ate anything wrong, everything would spiral out of control again. Introducing any new food became a nightmare. Imagine the fear I was living in.

Reaching Out for Help

When I first contacted Sara through her website, I asked a very direct question:

“Do you know how to get rid of Blastocystis Hominis?”

She was honest. She hadn’t even heard of that parasite before. But she also didn’t dismiss me or rush me off with vague reassurance. Instead, she took time to research and understand what I was dealing with.

What stood out to me was her calm confidence—and her honesty. She told me that helping me would require an intensive and structured program, because this was a very stubborn parasite that had deeply embedded in my gut and taken over my body—along with many other different various other parasites and bacteria.

At that point, I had nothing to lose.

Beginning the Healing Process

We started with Sara’s signature gastrointestinal cleanse, designed to reach parasites hiding in hard-to-reach areas of the gut.

This wasn’t a “quick fix” cleanse. It was methodical, carefully paced, and intentionally gentle. She explained what I haven’t heard before: “die-off reactions” (Herxheimer Syndrome). I was learning a new thing every day.

Sara prepared me for the possibility that I might feel worse before I can feel better—and reassured me that this didn’t mean failure. It meant that my body is responding to the treatment.

That gave me the assurance to proceed, and I was prepared for anything. How worse more can it get?

Learning More About The Parasite

As we worked together, Sara discovered something critical: this parasite thrives in the presence of certain other bacteria and foods. It can live in the gut for many years, laying eggs that antibiotics don’t address.

That explained everything.

The antibiotics I had taken were only killing the adult parasites, not the larvae and the eggs. That’s why my symptoms never seem to cease.

We had to:

  • Starve the parasite through targeted dietary changes
  • Use specific herbs to kill adults, larvae, and eggs over time
  • Move slowly to avoid overwhelming my system
  • Adjust the protocol based on my reactions

She even explained that parasites can become more active around full moons—something that sounded strange at first, but turned out to be incredibly accurate.

This was the first time I actually understood my unseen enemies, and what we were up against.

Commitment, Patience, and Progress

I followed Sara’s program diligently—exactly as she was instructing me. Not because I was forced to, but because I believed in the process.

We adjusted my diet regularly based on how my body responded. I learned how to eat not just “clean,” but strategically.

We also introduced:

  • Cabbage juice to support gut lining repair
  • Bone broth to nourish and soothe my digestive tract

Slowly, symptoms began to ease. Not all at once—but steadily.

The Moment Everything Changed

At the end of the second month of our three-month program, I took a lab test. When the results came back, I was in disbelief.

The parasite was gone! I was completely free of Blastocystis hominis!

I felt an overwhelming wave of relief, gratitude, and joy. I told Sara that I wanted to give her a big hug—that’s how emotional I was at the time. But of course, we were continents apart!

By then, most of my symptoms had already improved dramatically. I still experienced mild acid reflux and occasional gas, but compared to where I started, it felt manageable—and hopeful.

Focusing on True Healing

After the great relief of knowing the parasite was gone, and when I had calmed down. Sara directed my focus now to repairing, nourishing and healing.

My gut lining had been severely damaged from years of inflammation, infection, and antibiotic abuse. We focused on healing leaky gut and restoring balance.

By this time, I felt empowered. I understood:

  • Which foods supported my healing
  • Which foods to avoid
  • How to listen to my body
  • How to maintain my progress long-term

I no longer felt helpless and was actually looking forward to being able to heal properly, relieved that the worst was behind me.

Where I Am Now

Today, my life looks completely different than what it was just a few months ago.

I can leave the house without anxiety. I can sleep through the night. I can eat without fear although still cautiously, not letting my guards down. I still have much healing to do, but I feel stronger—physically and emotionally.

Most importantly, I have my life, and hope, back.

This journey had taught me that healing isn’t always about stronger medications—sometimes it’s about resilience, diligence, a deeper understanding, and in my case—a strategic personalized care.

I am deeply grateful for Sara’s guidance, her understanding and knowledge of the microbiome, and the support I received during our program. This wasn’t just about eliminating a parasite—it was about getting my life back.

Thank you, Sara!
